About the Courses:
The department is running MA, M.Phil and Ph.D. courses. Ratio for male and female students is 40:60. Atleast (40) fourty Ph.D. scholars have been pursuing Ph.D. research work as URS, JRF and registered scholar in the various specialized fields of Panjabi, language, literature and culture. Thirty four students of this department have qualified the JRF/NET& SLET tests held in Dec., 2010. The department has absolutely indulged in research pursuits so many eminent scholars as Prof. Attar Singh, Prof. Harbhajan Singh, Prof. Darshan Singh. Prof. Prem Prakash Singh, Prof. Satinder Singh, Prof. S.S.Noor Prof. Jagbir Singh and Prof. Deepak Manmohan Singh have been invited as Visiting Fellows time to time for delivering the lectures in the department under UGC scheme. It has produced sixty Ph.D. scholars and five hundred M.Phil students. The department has two Chairs also. Guru Nanak Chair and Guru Gobind Singh Chair for the deep study and research of Bani of Gurus.
The department is well known for organizing various National and International Seminars/Conferences/Symposium etc. time to time for the promotion of Panjabi language, literature and culture in the HaryanaState. The department is holding all the responsibilities as to prepare lesson plans, to conduct PCPof BA and MA (Panjabi) to the students of Correspondence Courses of this University.

Eligibility : (i)Master’s Degree in the concerned subject from KUK OR an examination recognized thereto with at least 55% marks. The condition of marks in the Master’s Degree shall be relaxable upto 50% in the case of University appointed or approved teachers with at least three years service as such.
(ii)(For SC candidates) Minimum eligibility condition will be pass marks in the qualifying examination i.e. Master’s Degree in the concerned subject. (iii) 5% relaxation in minimum eligibility condition will be given to Blind/Physically and Visually handicapped candidates.
