About the Department
The Department of Political Science was established in 1961 with an emphasis on teaching and research activities. Department is engaged in following academic activities:
The Department is running two courses of M.A. and M. Phil. with an intake of 60 and 12 students respectively. Besides, some students are enrolled for Ph.D. regularly.
Department is also running M.A. in Defence and Strategic Studies with the intake of 30 students since 2010.
University Grants Commission has established Gandhian Studies Centre in the Department under the scheme of ‘Epoch Making Social Thinkers in India’, since April 2008. It has been given extension up to 2017. Professor R.S.Yadav is working as Director of the centre. It organizes seminars, extension lectures and conducts research at M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels
The Department has successfully conducted 08 Refresher Courses for college and university teachers.
The Department is constantly engaged in academic pursuits by organizing seminars, symposiums, workshops and conferences. Visiting fellows are also regularly invited from different Universities and special/guest lectures are conducted from time to time. The teachers of the Department are actively engaged in research activities and have participated in numerous National and International Seminars and conferences in India and abroad.
