To be an institution with distinctions
The mission is to create and disseminate knowledge through teaching, learning and research. The institution seeks to prepare teachers who possess problem solving skills, demonstrate leadership qualities, appreciate team work, value dignity of self and others, exhibit compassion and respect forall forms of life in attempting to make this world a better place to live in.
Once again it’s time to recognize the commitment of students, faculty and staff of Institute of Teacher Training & Researchtowards realization of curricular goals of teacher education program.
In this age of quick and easy availability of information to the so called ‘networked’ youth of today, one is reminded of Swami Vivekananda’s thought that ‘education is not information’. Explaining the difference between the two he had said that….. if education is identical with information , the libraries are the greatest sage of the world and encyclopedias the rishis . Such a thought necessitates a discourse on devising ways to ‘manage information’ in accordance with the learning needs of the students. Information, when managed properly, facilitates the learner to shape it as knowledge, understanding and wisdom. Guided by this understanding, the college has been attempting to provide learning opportunities to the ‘student-teachers’ to experience and explore their curricular goals.
Adapting to the recent curricular reforms in the field of ‘teacher education’, there has been a palpable focus on constructive and informed interaction among the faculty and students to plan, execute effective learning strategies as well as seek feedback and use it for creating effective learning opportunities. We are consistently working towards establishing a collaborative connect among the regulatory bodies, department of school education at the state as well as local level and the college towards creating a mutually beneficial learning spaces. Such an attempt is aimed at realizing optimum gains from the extended 20 weeks School Internship Programme (SIP).
It is hoped and wished that with the committed support of the university authorities, motivated faculty, involved staff and diligent students, Institute of Teacher Training & Researchshall stay on track in its endeavour to not just provide education but deliver it well too.
