Dr. Sarup Singh Chair, Department of English and The Shakespeare Association (India) jointly organized a one day seminar on 13 February 2010 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the publication of Shakespeare’s Sonnets (1609). Senior scholars including Prof. R.W. Desai, Prof. Rajiva Verma, Prof. Bhim S. Dahiya and Prof Anand Prakash presented papers on the occasion.
Currently, Modern British Fiction, Feminist Studies, American Literature and Indian Writing in English are the thrust areas in researches in the Department. Projects : NIL
Three students of the Department namely (i) Ms. Yashpreet Kaur; (ii) Ms. Nidhi Khatana & (iii) Ms. Urvashi Kuhad have been selected as Foreign Language Teaching Assistants under Fulbright Program to teach at U.S. Universities.

Prof. Dinesh Kumar has been conferred Sh. Baldev Kaushik Samman by Haryana Pradeshik Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Sirsa.
Prof. Brajesh Sawhney has been awarded Adele Mellen Prize by Mellen Press, USA for his significant contribution to Native American Studies.
