(A) INFORMATION ON SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES
(i) A Two-Day National Seminar on “Revisiting Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and His Times” was organized by the Department of History, K.U. Kurukshetra on 2nd – 3rd April 2013. Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana was the Chief-Guest at this National Seminar. Prof. J.S.Grewal an eminent Historian with International repute was the Key Note Speaker at this occasion. Valedictory Address was delivered’ by Prof Ishrat Alam, the then Secretary Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi. Prof. Indu Banga a renowned. Historian also shared her valuable views on this subject. Prof. Amarjeet singh, Chairman Department of History, K.U. Kurukshetra was the Director of the seminar.
The Seminar has proved to be a mile stone in exploring the ideas and activities of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur which remain a significant chapter in the history of Punjab/Haryana. The Seminar successfully examined the 18th century Persian and 19th century British Historiography and other significant aspects on the life and times of Banda Singh Bahadur. A galaxy of Scholars including Prof. Azizzudin Hussain, Prof. Jigar Mahammad, Prof. Harish Sharma, Prof. Param Bakshish Singh, Prof. Veena Sachdeva, Prof. S.S.Sohal, Prof. Radha Sharma, Prof. Jaspal Kaur, Prof. Sharda Sharma and Prof. Sukhdyal Singh discussed the issue thread bare.
(ii) A Two-day historic International Conference on "1947: Rethinking" was organized by the Department on 13th – 14th March 2015. Prof. David Gilmartin, distinguished Professor of History, North Carolina State University, Raleign, U.S.A. and an internationally known historian delivered the Key-note Address at this International Conference. Prof. Indu Banga, Emeritus Professor of History, Punjab University, Chandigarh and one of the senior most historians of India delivered the Inaugural Address at this Conference and Prof. Meghna Guhathakurta an eminent social scientist of Bangladesh was the Guest of Honour at the Inaugural Session. Lt. Gen. (Dr.) D.D.S. Sandhu, the then Vice-Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra Presided Over the Inaugural Session of this Conference. Prof. Amarjit Singh, Chairman, Department of History and Director of this International Conference dwelled upon the theme and objectives of the Conference. Prof. Ashfaque Hossain, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh delivered the Valedictory Address at this Conference and the Valedictory Session was Presided over by Prof. David Gilmartin.
As many as twenty five eminent historians and social scientists across the world delivered their Distinguished Talks at this Conference and Chaired the various Technical Sessions. All the ten Technical Sessions of this Conference were designed thematically. Each Technical Session was Chaired by an eminent historians such as Prof. David Gilmartin, North Carolina State University, U.S.A., Prof. Meghna Guhathakurta, Research Initiatives Bangladesh, Prof. Ashfaque Hossain, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh, Prof. K. L. Tuteja, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla, Prof. Chhanda Chatterjee, Vishva Bharti University, Shantiniketan, Prof. Rizvan Qaiser, Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi, Prof. Jaspal Kaur, Punjabi University, Patiala, Prof. Harish Sharma, G.N.D. University, Amritsar, Prof. Subhash Ranjan Chakraborti, Mahanirban Calcutta Research Group, Kolkata and Prof. Kulbir Singh Dhillon, Punjabi University, Patiala.
There were nearly 110 paper-presenters at this International Conference and this mega event was attended by 207 registered delegates. Paper-presenter represented various states of India like West Bengal, Bihar, Orissa, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir. The Department proposes to publish the proceedings of the Conference in shape of a Book.
(iii) A Two-Day International Conference on ‘150 Years of Mahatma Gandhi’ was organized by the Department on 07-08 March, 2019 with grand success. Padama Bhushan Dr. Swapan Dassgupta, Former Editor of the Times of India, Member Parliament Rajya Sabha and an eminent educationist was the Chief-Guest at this International Conference and Prof. Y Sudershan Rao, Former Chairman, Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi, an internationally known historian delivered the Inaugural Address. Key-Note Address was delivered by Prof. M.P. Dube, Former Vice-Chancellor, Rajrishi Tandon Open University, Allahabad and Dr. Pippa Virdee, eminent historian of England based at De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom graced this International Conference as the Guest of Honour. Prof. Kailash Chandra Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra Presided the Inaugural Session of this International Conference. Prof. Amarjit Singh, Chairman, Department of History, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and Director of this International Conference dwelled upon the concept note, theme, sub-theme and objectives of the Conference. Prof. Manohar Lal Sharma, an eminent historian and Former Director, Gandhi Bhawan, Punjab University, Chandigarh delivered the Valedictory Address at this Conference. Prof. Salil Mishra, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Ambedkar University, Delhi and Dr. Md. Ziaul Haque Sheikh, Jagannath University, Dhaka, Bangladesh were the Guests of Honour at the Valedictory Session which was Presided by Prof. M.M. Goel, Vice-Chancellor, Jagannath University, Jaipur.
As many as 20 historians and social Scientist, across the world, delivered their Distinguished Talks at this Conference and Chaired the various Technical Sessions. Historians and Scholars of repute delivered Distinguished Lectures on the different aspects on the study of Mahatma Gandhi and his contemporary relevance in each Technical Session. There were nearly 180 Paper-Presenters at this International Conference and this mega event was attended by 313 registered Delegates. (ii) Research Forum
The Department has established a Research Forum in June, 2012 with the purpose to update the Faculty, Research Scholars and the students of the Department to the various aspects on the study and research on the Medieval and Modern Indian History. The Research Forum is regularly organizing Invited Lectures of those Historians and Scholars who have made significant research contributions in the study of History.

C. NEW POST-GRADUATE TEACHING COURSE
The Department has introduced a new Post-Graduate Teaching Course, i.e., M.A.-South Asian Studies w.e.f. the Session 2014-15. This M.A. Course in South Asian Studies proposes to coordinate academic studies, outreach programs teaching and research relating to Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bhutan. This Course may deal with the study about the diverse peoples, cultures, societies, religions, economy, history and politics of the South Asia. This Course may focus on the studies on different aspects of Colonialism, Nationalism, Post-Colonial Socio-Economic development, Government and Politics, Growth of the Democratic Institutions and Foreign Relations related to the South Asian Nations. Beside this the study of the emergence and growth of Regional Identities, Health and Medicine, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Animal Science and Environmental Studies related to the South Asian Nations will also be taken care in the syllabi of this M.A.Course.
D. INFORMATION ON ACHIEVEMENTS
(i) Professor Amarjit Singh delivered an Invited Address at the University of Oxford, Oxford, United Kingdom in February, 2017. The event was organized by the European Scientific Institute.
(ii) Professor Amarjit Singh was conferred with Academic Excellence by Confederation of Education Excellence, New Delhi, in September, 2017. The Award was presented by Hon’ble Governor of Haryana, Respected Professor Kaptan Singh Solanki.
(iii) Professor Amarjit Singh was conferred with Life Time Achievement Award for contribution and achievements in Indian History by Venus International Foundation , Centre for Advanced Research and Design , Chennai , November , 2017.
(iv) Professor Amarjit Singh was conferred with Adarsh Vidya Sarswati Rashtriya Puraskar and National Education and Research Award by the Global Management Council, Ahmedabad in May, 2018.
(v) Professor Amarjit Singh was conferred with Academic Exceptionalism Award and Best Academic Administrator of 2018 by Association of Scientists, Developers and Faculties, London, United Kingdom.
(vi) Professor Amarjit Singh has been appointed as Member, Editorial Board, European Scientific Journal, Republic of Macedonia. This prestigious Journal is a peer-reviewed mega journal, which supports the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary areas of research. This Journal is widely circulated in more than 120 countries across the globe.
(vii) Professor S.K. Chahal has been selected as Senior Fellow at the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla.
(viii) The Profile of Professor Amarjit Singh has been adopted and included in the World Book of Researchers, University of Oxford, Oxford, United Kingdom.
(ix) All the Faculty members are regularly associated with various professional bodies like Indian History Congress, Punjab History Conference, Indian Historical Record Commission and Akhil Bhartiya Ithihas Sankalan Yojana.
