INFORMATION ON SEMINARS AND CONFERENCES HELD RECENTLY
1. The Department organized a 5-day workshop on “Survey Techniques” for research students in the month of May, 2013 in which Mr. Aaditya Dar, Research Scholar, George Washington University, USA delivered talks on designing and testing questionnaires and took the students to field for pilot surveys.
2. The Department organized a Refresher Course in Business Studies from 02.01.2013 to 22.01.2013 in collaboration with the UGC-Academic Staff College. 33 Participants from different parts of India attended the Refresher Course. Many renowned economists delivered talks in the Refresher Course.
3. Prof. Stephen C. Smith, Former Director, Institute for International Economic Policy, George Washington University, USA who is an internationally known development economist, visited the department for 6 weeks from 29.09.12 to 19.10.12 as a Fulbright Senior Specialist. Prof. Smith delivered a series of 6 lectures for the students and 5 talks for faculty members of the University. He also gave useful research ideas & guidance to research students and carried out four field trips to nearby rural areas with them. The visit of Professor Smith to our Department has sharpened the focus on existing Research areas and widened the scope at horizon which shall help unlocking the potential of faculty members.
4. The organization of the International Seminar on “Poverty in Developing Countries: Challenges & Policy options” by the Department on October 19-20,2012 in collaboration with Institute for International Economic Policy, George Washington University, Washington D.C. has been a great landmark in the history of the department.
5. The Department organized Two-Day International Seminar on ‘India and China in Global Economy’ on March 4-5, 2011.
6. The Department organized National Seminar on ‘Emerging Global Economic Scenario: ASEAN & India’ on March 19-20, 2010.
7. The Department organized National Seminar on ‘Asian Economic Integration’ on March 25-26, 2008.
8. The Department organized 89th Annual Conference of Indian Economic Association in Dec 2006 in which 1600 delegates from India and abroad participated.
9. The Department organized a Two-Day National Seminar on Growth, Trade and Environment on March 4-5, 2006.
